by the cabinet, the construction of the new Meerut-Panipat railway line will be cleared. The 104 km long Meerut-Panipat railway line has been demanded for 25 years. Former MP of Kairana, Hukam Singh, raised this issue in 2016 during the general budget, proposing an estimated budget of INR 2200 crore for the line. After four years of surveys for the line, a detailed project report costing INR 3500 crore was sent to the Ministry of Railways. Pillars were erected from Diwana to Daurala in Panipat for land acquisition for the new line. After becoming the Lok Sabha in-charge for Saharanpur and Bijnor, the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav visited Saharanpur, where a delegation from the Jan Hit Sangharsh Morcha led by MP Pradeep Chaudhary of Kairana demanded the commencement of the new line's work. Following the Minister's assurance, the new line was sent to the Railway Board in New Delhi for approval. The file remained pending in the 'Gaj Shakti' unit. Union Minister of State Sanjeev Balyan has confirmed that the new Meerut-Panipat railway line has received approval from the 'Gaj Shakti' unit of the Ministry of Railways in Delhi.
