Being from Rampura Phul I feel happy with this train route all though it does not stop there but due to crossing of trains due to single line I expect it will some times stops Bhuhoo, Rampura & Tapa also.
Even on the route they forgot the other good station Dhuri Jn.

As you have booked an e-ticket, you need to file TDR to claim the refund. Please log into your irctc account and follow the process for filing TDR. In case of train cancellation e tickets can be cancelled upto 3 days of the scheduled departure of the train from your boarding station. No need to file tdr. Ticket will be cancelled instantly(no matter whether the chart prepared or not). The refund amount (full amount excluding irctc service charge) will be credited back to your account used for booking.
Because now three day limit is over you have to file tdr for refund and it may take some time to get processed.

your boarding point is Gorakhpur, so there will be no problem in getting berths from Gorakhpur, but remember now you can not board the train from Bagaha because due to boarding change you lost the right to board from booking station.

Strange. With journey date being 31.5.2010, it ought to mention the Berth No. too. Has there been a change in the system so far as Duronto booking is concerened ? Not known.

Not strange at all. Whenever you look up status and its shows available, we all presume we are the only ones looking up and booking! There are thousands, rather lakhs of people like us, who are doing the same thing. So you get into the queue. Note that simply seeing Waitlist/Available does not indicate HOW MANY are available. By the time you book, somebody has already done that booking before you! Plus W/L/RAC movement for any train, not only Duranto, is dynamic and in the season, you will find lots of people trying to book, cancel, and so on.
Yes since it is RAC confirmation, it will show on chart preparation. Here comes the play of Passenger Logic. There may be quotas involved such as Ladies, senior citizens, HO, other quotas etc., which are fixed, plus system logic will try to allocate seats/berths on 'family' basis i.e. two-six persons on a PNR. Therefore you will find that the CNF on RAC is made to wait for the above considerations to be worked out before allocating the actual berth on RAC/WL CNF tickets! The list is by no means exhaustive. Yes you can: Here are the Rules..but in Durantos, you will NOT get the advantage of getting down at intermediate stations (you can get down, but your ticket will not be endorsed and journey will be treated as completed end to end) and in Rajdhanis it can only be to stations where it normally halts. Circular Journey Ticket (AS ON 1.5.07)
(1) Normal rules on Break Journey will not apply in case of Circular Journey Tickets for such circular journey which commences and completes at the same station. Return Journey on the shortest route or on a route upto 15% longer than the shortest route will not be treated as circular journey for this purpose. Circular Journey Tickets can be issued for all classes. Before issuing Circular Journey Ticket, the passenger should be asked to advise the names of maximum eight stations (excluding originating/destination station) where he wants to break the journey.
(2) Validity period - The validity period for the ticket will be calculated at the sum of journey days and break journey days - journey days to be calculated @ 1 day per 400 kms distance or part thereof and break journey days to be calculated @ 1 day per 200 Kms. The ticket will be valid from the day of journey indicated on the ticket. There will be no restriction on commencing the break journey. The passenger will be required to put his signature with date on the ticket on commencement of journey.
(3) Break Journey - On a circular journey ticket the maximum number of break journey will be 8 (eight). The endorsement of break-journey is not required on Circular Journey Tickets.
(4) Fare for Circular Journey ticket - The circular journey ticket will be charged for two single journeys, each journey being taken as half of the total distance. Reservation charges for different legs of journeys, supplementary charge on super-fast, etc. will be levied extra. If a passenger travels in higher class or by higher category of trains, he will be required to pay the difference of fares for such distance on point to point basis.

It is strange to us in so far as there is no berth number alloted. There is nothing strange as fas as RAC getting confirmed in the intervening short period. Do you mean to say that berth will be alloted only at the time of chart preparation and the passengers' ticket will be berth -less for more than 2 months ? The system ought to generate berth No. at the time final booking status is clicked and ticket is booked. It has still no berth No. and that is strange to us but note that this is not uncommon in Rlys.

Just to clarify again.
First I checked the availability status which showed WL/Available.
Next I booked the ticket and got a confirmed reservation at booking itself but berth number was not allotted.
Then I again checked the availability after booking which showed RAC6/RAC1.

CJT can be had for DURONTO but NOT for RAJDHANI. CJTs are issued for a particular class of journey on standard fares whereas Rajdhanis & Shatabdis have point to point ALL INCLUSIVE fares which do not match standard fares.

Dear all,
This prompts me to share my personal experience in 2007 while booking 05 3A berths by Navjeevan Exp. On printing my particulars the Resv. Clerk said the status was WL/5, I okayed. On seeing the ticket it was RAC/6-10. The same evening on checking the status at home, it said CNF. I don't think this is strange. Sometimes status moves faster than our imagination while at other times even WL/1 refuses to budge.

Suppose I am trying to book a ticket. On checking status I found WL/Available. If I proceed to book ticket at this status I will get confirmed one but at the seat no it will be printed as confirmed.(Seat No will be alloted at the chart preparation)
I booked once at this status and got the above result.

How can a person without knowing the class simply say no chance? The train is one of the slow ones from MAS to Mumbai, and that is why I first responded to that first and then wrote about the other blogger. Anyway you have as much right to your opinion as I ... so no issues, and I don't mind your statement at all.
@first blogger: you have a chance as I said with W/L 85 (it must have gone up now, unless you booked already... pls post your present status and some of us will try and see what chances you have. Forget the rest of the comments here. I stand by my position.

See Murli my point is whether he will get confirmed or not is the issue. The way U have responded to the other blogger (NITIN) U R COMMENT towards his answer to the first blogger matters.
One example is blog #23693 where IRFANB has answered NO CHANCE FOR a query and look how JITESH has responeded. Jithesh replied dont say like that always there is a chance of 50:50 and finally the passenger got CONFIRMED
In another blog #20977 IRFAN answered Yes and immediately HD answerd to IRFAN that he is kidding, how U say no, this is nonsense and this is the last warning for You etc but ultimately the passenger got CONFIRMED.
My point here is see how JItesh and HD responded to the bloggers questions. Jitesh in more civilized manner aand HD not like that and U also to NITIN the same way.
Another point here is INFRAN was wrong in his first case and right in second case regariding his answers. That is why i have told all are gussing here acording to their knowledge and experience and u have right to correct them but in a more civilized maanner and respect each other.
I think because U are ADMIN: and u can write anything or what? to other bloggers

I also want to say some thing on the issue. This is right that no can 100 % predict about a pnr's final status that is why I never say 100 % (or in rare cases). I stuck up to 99 %. There may be some mistakes by us.
Murli Ji & HD are reputed, old & respected blogger of the forum. I learnt many things from both of them.
Specially about Mr Murli Ji, He is such a knowledgeable person, apart from our friendship(Me, Mr Murli & HD) we both(HD & Me) are fan of Mr Murli that he is such a rail crazy person. You just ask him any thing & I know he is the person which will help you in the late night also. You can see his late night posting on the blog, He is always ready to help you. You will be amazed to know that we three(Me, Mr Murli & HD) never meet each other but still we trust each other & so we share all of our expreience with each other.
Thanks for praising me but I request you to be polite for him.
I think he is the elder most person on the forum so deserves respect.

If he is such a nice and experienced person means he is the one who has to guide other bloggers here with good outlook. not like this way may be he may have not ment that but by going through one feels like that.
And he has asked YOU COULD HAVE BETTER ANSWERED THE QUESTION but until there is PNR # i wont answer to a bloger that is why i have not answered and in soem case if we ask for PNR they wont even respond. So i answeres to PNR queries only. Likewise each INDIVUIDAL will be haaving his own expertise here to answer questions. So one should not insult the other blogger who had answered to a query. I hope u maay have gone through the blog #20977 and see how HD has responded to IRFAN is that way?

Posting blog comments, thinking about chances of cofirmation, etc. take time and effort, and the fact that our bloggers/admins are doing it is itself a great thing. As for prediction accuracy, we all know and realize that it is not 100%.
From a suggestion given by our admins - Jitesh, HD and Murli - (maybe as a result of this discussion), we are working on a feature whereby "PNR Predictions/Analysis" are shown on a separate tab. Also, we are going to make it easy for everyone to verify the final WL charting status on the day of the journey, for those PNRs for which a prediction was made. This feature will help us track and go back and verify the prediction, and also keep a score on prediction accuracy - maybe even individual metrics.
This feature will keep each person's prediction metrics, and will lend some objectivity. Maybe it will also be a fun exercise for those people who make the prediction, to finally know how it turned out.
Thanks a lot for the discussion. As can be seen here, all debates, even arguments, can result in some great ideas.
