This is the first train where air-conditioned coach was introduced for the first time and previously known as the Frontier Mail which was introduced in 1934 by BB&CI (Bombay, Baroda and Central India) which is now part of the Western Railways.
The airconditioning system in those days used ice blocks, carried in sealed receptacles built beneath the car floor. These were replenished at several halts along the line. A battery operated blower constantly blew air into these receptacles, and the cold air entered the insulated cars through vents. Very basic, very messy, but with the desired effect.

Back then, the AC system used ice blocks in sealed containers under the floor, getting refilled at stops along the way. A battery-operated blower kept blowing air into those containers, letting the cold air flow through vents into the cars. Super basic, super messy, but it did the trick, man.

Us samay ki air-conditioning system mein ice blocks ka istemal hota tha, jo car ke floor ke neeche banaye gaye sealed containers mein rakhe jate the. Ye kai jagah roke par dubara bhare jate the. Ek battery se chalne wala blower lagatar hawa ko in containers mein bhejta tha, aur thandi hawa insulated cars mein vents ke zariye pravesh karti thi. Bahut basic, bahut messy, par manzil tak pahunchane mein safal.
