When Shatabdi Express was introduced between Howrah and Rourkela, it had miserably failed due to which its run from Tatanagar to Rourkela was permanently cancelled and it began to ply between Howrah and Tatanagar only. Later it was converted into Jan Shatabdi Express and extended upto Barbil. Today it runs as train no. 12021/2 Howrah - Barbil Jan Shatabdi Express. So let us see how much patronage the proposed Howrah - Rourkela Vande Bharat Express gets. I don't hope for much patronage.

Shatabdi was introduced around the year 1995 upto 2002. The economy of the city and the country as a whole was very different at that time. Travelling in AC itself as a big thing , let alone a Shatabdi. It was a premium train at the wrong time.

I have always seen people giving example of shatabdi whenever, any train to Rourkela is planned. However, times have changed, Rourkela as a city has changed. Rourkela is a Odisha's third biggest city and its population and money power have grown immensely.

I have no doubt that this train will have decent occupancy. Also if the timing are to be believed, it will give connection to the ROU-PURI VB as well which will have enough takers from SBP and JSG.

Jamshedpur since then has grown humungous
You can see the rush in Steel. No matter the imperfections in TT formation, it will be superhit.

May be, you are right. If this is the case, then a VB should be run from Ranchi to Barbil or Ranchi to Kendujhargarh.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
