Has anyone had any questions asked
/conversation with Railways staff/RPF while doing railfanning?


I had one recently;I was capturing few photos at the station and there were back to back trains arriving,departing...
more...
and shunting;I was standing at the front end where I could see the loco&few RPFs were also there.

After a few mins,one RPF asked where I was planning to go and then I told I had a ticket(Suburban) to the next few stations.

Then they asked for ID card! And name and age!!(No issues whatsoever;looked more like a formality check as there are news of people running away from families etc etc ...)

After that they asked why I'm capturing trains to which I replied I really like trains;they just laughed ЁЯШБ.

I continued taking pics after that;they didn't mind :)

Just wanted to share my experience here!

Actually, according to the rules you've to take permission for cameras and other filming equipment only. Mobile photography is allowed, no restrictions.

They dissuade it because of the sawrm of reel making 'youth'. Although the station authority reserves the right to let or not let you film, but they can't snatch your phone. You can simply read them the rules.

more...
loco pilots sometimes discourage the photography around locomotives and signaling equipment, same reason OP got questioned. But mostly everyone is cool with it once you aren't in close proximity to the locomotive or signals.

Agree:That may be the exact reason.
That's probably why;that place was mostly for parcel loading and locomotives...rather uncommon to see passengers there
