The first segment expected to open is between Porur and Poonamallee before the end of 2025. The Thirumayilai metro, serving as an interchange between corridors 3 and 4, is expected to open last in 2028. Construction on some segments, such as OMR and Mylapore, has been delayed due to contract issues and legal challenges.
