Badarpur (172 km) is also progressing well, with 85% of the work done. Overall, 65% of NFR tracks have been electrified, boosting the railway network in the Northeast. Once the electrification is complete, premier trains like Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat could operate up to Agartala. NFR plans to phase out diesel-run trains, which will reduce diesel costs and carbon emissions. The Centre has allocated Rs 260 crore for upgrading Agartala station and Rs 93 crore to convert Dharmanagar, Udaipur, and Kumarghat stations to Amrit Bharat stations.
