Kerala opposes Centre's reported move to shut down Palakkad Railway Division, sends letter

The Kerala government strongly protested the Centre's reported decision to close down the Palakkad Railway Division, calling it an act of neglect and vindictiveness towards Kerala. in passenger numbers and revenue, and the closure is seen as a covert move against the state. The minister alleged a pattern of neglecting railway development in Kerala, citing the earlier bifurcation of Palakkad Division to create Salem Division and the attempt to merge it with Mangaluru Division, which was later withdrawn due to strong protests. Abdurahiman criticized the Centre's lack of focus on doubling railway tracks and allocating new trains in Kerala. He urged the public to protest the planned closure of the Palakkad Division.

Kerala government ne Centre ke taraf se Palakkad Railway Division ko band karne ke faisle pe zor se protest kiya hai, aur isko Kerala ke saath neglect aur vindictiveness ka example bol rahe hain. State Railway Minister V Abdurahiman ne Centre ke Railway Minister ko letter likhkar is faisle ko vapas...

lene ke liye kaha hai. Unhone bataya ki Palakkad Division passengers aur revenue me bahut aage hai, aur isko band karna state ke khilaf ek chupa hua kadam hai. Minister ne Kerala mein railway development ko neglect karne ka ek pattern hone ka ilzaam lagaya hai, aur pehle Palakkad Division ko Salem Division banaane aur Mangaluru Division me merge karne ke try ko example diye hain, jo ki Kerala ke strong protest ke baad vapas le liya gaya tha. Abdurahiman ne Centre ko Kerala mein railway tracks ko double karne aur new trains allocate karne me interest na lene ke liye criticize kiya hai. Unhone public se Palakkad Division ko band karne ke faisle ke khilaf protest karne ka appeal kiya hai.

Everybody is asking what is the source of the information ? Nobody knows. Just one MP it seems has come out with this piece of information. Railways may need to clarify. Similar request of a new division has cropped up in CBE. They want to move out of Salem once CBE became the third highest revenue generating stn in SR. Will have to wait and see as to what is the response and update
