Mumbai Metro: Line 3 Phase 1 Reaches 95% Completion, Says MMRC Director Ashwini Bhide

Mumbai's Metro Line 3, running between Colaba, Bandra, and SEEPZ, is expected to be partially operational by mid-2024. MMRC Managing Director Ashwini Bhide confirmed 95% project completion, including tunneling and nine stations. The focus now is on completing the depot and its connection to the main line, with full connectivity...

anticipated by February 15-20. Driverless train operations are planned, but the current target is for automatic train operation (ATO) due to the lack of UTO certification in India. Bhide emphasized the significance of Metro Line 3 as the only corridor across the island city, connecting various transport modes and opening up neglected areas. She estimated that initially, 4.5 lakh vehicle trips per day will be reduced upon commencement, with the potential to reach 6.5 lakh daily reductions as the system reaches full capacity. However, this shift in commuter behavior may take 5-10 years. Road barricades due to construction are being gradually lifted, with reinstatement ongoing. The trains are designed for 95 km/h but will operate at 35 km/h due to station stops. Both the Wadala-GPO metro project and the southern extension of Metro Line 3 are undergoing DPR updates to assess viability.

complete karne aur usko main line se connect karne pe hai, full connectivity February 15-20 tak hone ki ummeed hai. Driverless train operations ka plan hai, lekin current target automatic train operation (ATO) hai, kyunki India mein UTO certification nahi hai. Bhide ne Metro Line 3 ki importance highlight ki, yeh island city ke across ek aisa corridor hai jo various transport modes ko connect karta hai aur neglected areas ko open karta hai. Unhone estimate kiya hai ki operation start hone pe, shuruaat mein 4.5 lakh vehicle trips per day kam honge, aur system ke full capacity pe aane pe yeh number 6.5 lakh daily reductions tak ja sakta hai. Lekin commuter behaviour mein yeh change aane mein 5-10 saal lag sakte hain. Construction ke wajah se road barricades ko gradually hataya ja raha hai, aur reinstatement chal raha hai. Trains ki design 95 km/h ki speed ke liye hai lekin 35 km/h ki speed pe operate honge, kyunki stations pe rukna padega. Wadala-GPO metro project aur Metro Line 3 ka southern extension, dono hi DPR updates se ja rahe hain, taki unki viability check ki ja sake.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
