The current list of trains without a halt at Prayagraj Junction includes the Rajendra Nagar-New Delhi Sampoorna Kranti Express (12393/12394), Sealdah-Anand Vihar West Bengal Sampark Kranti (12329/12330), Sealdah-Amritsar Superfast (12379/12380), New Delhi-Agartala Rajdhani Express (20501/20502), Bikaner-Sealdah Duronto Express (12259/12260), Ranchi-Anand Vihar Superfast (12825/12826), Bhubaneshwar-Anand Vihar Odisha Sampark Kranti (12819/12820), Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12313/12314), Ranchi-New Delhi Rajdhani Express (20839/20840), New Delhi-Howrah Duronto Express (12273/12274), New Delhi-Bhubaneshwar Humsafar Express (12281/12282), and Delhi-Bhagalpur Vikramshila Express (12367/12368).

A total of 264 trains pass through Prayagraj Junction, with 35 pairs (70 trains) operating daily, 108 trains operating once a week, and others operating between two to four days a week. Prayagraj is the most populous district in the state and is also known as a religious and spiritual city. Several state-level offices, including the Allahabad High Court, are located in Prayagraj. Despite being the location of the General Manager and Divisional Railway Manager offices, 24 pairs of trains do not stop here, while all of these trains stop at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, located approximately 150 km away. Considering the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj next year, a demand has been made to ensure that all trains passing through the city stop there. Currently, a proposal has been sent to the Railway Board for all non-stop trains passing through Prayagraj to stop, keeping the Kumbh Mela in mind. The Senior DCM of North Central Railway Prayagraj Division, Himanshu Shukla, states that there is hope that the board will grant permission for the trains to stop here.
