Station ka history mein bahut mahatva hai, kyunki ye eastern India mein pehla train journey se juda hai. Halsey Ricardo dwara design kiya gaya iska colonial architecture Victorian aur Gothic style ka mix hai. Howrah Station, Hooghly River ke western bank pe hai, aur famous Howrah Bridge se Kolkata se juda hai.
