The Bombay High Court has expressed serious concern over the high mortality rate of commuters on Mumbai local trains, seeking affidavits from the General Managers of Central and Western Railways. and London (1.43). The petitioner, Yatin Jadhav, argued that the deaths are primarily due to commuters falling from trains and accidents while crossing tracks. He emphasized that the conversion of some trains to AC has reduced the number of non-AC trains, leading to overcrowding. The court criticized the railway's response, stating that merely complying with guidelines is insufficient and that deaths should not be accepted as 'untoward incidents'. (1.43) se kaafi zyada hai. Petitioner, Yatin Jadhav ne argument kiya ki maut ka main reason hai commuters ka trains se girna aur tracks cross karte waqt accident. Unhone bataya ki kuchh trains ko AC banane se non-AC trains ki sankhya kam ho gayi hai, jisse overcrowding ho raha hai. Court ne railway ke jawab ko galat bataya, aur kaha ki sirf guidelines follow karna kaafi nahi hai aur mauton ko 'untoward incidents' ke jaise nahi dekhna chahiye. Court ne suggestion diya ki ek committee banai jaye jo is issue ka study kare aur solution propose kare.
