I doubt on the data representing operational cost of VB . Yes , VB 1.0 was tagged as less energy efficient and technology was immediately replaced in the version 2.0.
Train sets are considered more energy efficient and are becoming norm of the rail travel around the world.
Also , IR would have priced ticket according to the energy consumption of the train set .. but VB costs only 20% more than the Shatabdi !

Very early starting time from Lucknow. Plus route is only 100 kph capable. To make it worse, more speed restrictions post Haridwar. IR could have easily introduced an overnight service b/w Lucknow and Dehradun. Would have been easier for passengers and probably more would have used it compared to an 8 Car VB.

The train is running in WL from LKO direction. More availability means more last minute travellers can opt for the train. IR is earning good. The TT will reduce this year once LKO-MB will get 130 kmph clearance .
IR should then introduce another VB from CDG to LKO in the reverse direction.
POV: everybody is not comfortable in travelling by sleeper coaches in the night trains. For them and the business travellers , this train is a good optionтАж.

This train has a lot of slack between HW and MB. According to the currently designed TTтАж by reducing slack and increasing MPSтАж
CDG-LKO is possible with limited stops @110 kmph !
The whole section between Delhi-MB-GKP-North Bihar is proposed to get 130 kmph shortly ! This is the part of IRs top strategic section .. would get Multi tracked and 160 kmph upgrade for sure after some time as per the plansтАж

but clearly , IR should now think of a VB in the reverse direction and a 8 coach early morning departing VB between GGN and CDG (06:00-9:15 / 19:00-22:15).

people in the area are really excited about this train as they got the long pending demand of direct GGN connectivity !

needs to re adjust the quotas .. as people of GGN does not get availability due to DEC in the 20977 direction and people of DEC / Delhi may not get availability towards Jaipur in the 20978 direction travel.
This may result in unnecessary vacancy which otherwise may not happen !!

Its high time that IR should introduce Vande Metro Regionals on 200-250 kms route and replace all intercities and MEMU & passenger trains (plying on the same distance) with it .
This will ease pressure on VBs and would cut the crap .. Hub n Spoke System is the future..
Vande Metro Regional should have two classes , one having proper CC seating arrangement and reservation facilities and the other being unreserved RRTS type arrangement with proper standing and seating facilities. people traveling in reserved 2S will then have option to shift
