As per the hike news: With the demand for lower berths rising during train ticket reservation, the Indian Railways is planning to Charge Rs 50/- extra lower berth preferance. While this means a significant increase in revenue for the railways.

सुरेश प्रभु द्वारा लोअर बर्थ विंडो सीट के लिए किराये बढ़ाये जाने के बाद कुछ और भी सुझाव मिले हैं,
१) इंजन के साथ वाले डिब्बे का किराया ज्यादा होना चाहिये क्योंकि ये सबसे पहले पहूँचता है..
२) प्लेटफार्म 1 पर ठहरने वाली गाड़ियों का किराया भी ज़्यादा वसूला जाना चाहिए..
३) पत्नी को मायके छोड़ने जाते हुए पुरुषों से ४ गुना किराया भी...
