So one more train is moved out of Dehradun. It seems IR is only interested to bring Dehradun to the era of 80s when not more than 5-6 trains used to reach this station. So much for a capital city!!
Moreover this train is further slowed down. Anyways this is a crawler for most of its journey now further slowed down. With much faster trains between INDB & Delhi how much patronage will it get now is quite interesting.

This train is becoming more like a faster Gomti now. I remember once it used to cover Delhi to Lucknow in 6 hours now is closer to 7 hours!! Expressways are being built to fasten the travel while Shatabdi are being slowed down every year. Shortly we might see Hathras, Khurja, Firozabad, Shikohabad, Unnao demands being met for stoppage as well.

Both these Shatabdi trains are slowest in India. Plus they hardly get patronage from few stations. Examples of political interference. Dehradun Shatabdi used to cover distance in 5 hr 15 mins when started now it takes 5 hr 55 mins! Do you really call it a Shatabdi?

They are going to slower it down by adding stoppages. VB ka mazaak bana rahe hain ab.

IR has lost it completely. Tomorrow they'll stop it at Modi Nagar, Murad Nagar, Khatauli, and endless other stations. Imagine the joke is that Ghaziabad is not on the halt list but Deoband which hardly will have any passengers is on the halting list of a "Vande Bharat" train. Does IR want to make it an intercity train or really a Vande Bharat? Anyways it's slower than road travel either between Doon and Delhi or Haridwar to Delhi.
A direct line between DDN and SRE was proposed in 90s when Nitish Kumar was RM. It was rejected in feasibility study stating Shivalik mountain isn't fit for drilling and digging. This line will just remain on papers!

Let's see if IR is really keen to develop direct line between DDN & SRE. It would save huge time but like VB getting stoppage at every possible station IR can be expected to do anything!
