Moreover, Saraighat gets so many halts because this is the only dedicated daily train for Guwahati and Lower Assam from that region. Darjeeling mail on the other hand is a North Bengal bound train. Trains like Uttar Banga and Kanchankanya are already there to serve the smaller cities in that route. Hence, there isn't any demand of Darjeeling mail but Saraighat gets plenty of new halts
