See actually there is a difference. The UMB -CDG section is being doubled keeping in view of the passenger traffic, whereas the Rajpura-Patiala-Dhuri-Bathinda section is a identified feeder route of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor , that's why it may be commissioned before UMB-CDG, and as the RM himself is giving preference to freight routes, and above all the DFC routes and feeder routes. The preliminary work for doubling of Rajpura-Patiala-Dhuri-Bathinda has already started, and shall be commissioned by or before April 2018. The electrification of the said Rajpura-Patiala-Dhuri-Bathinda section is going to start anytime , so my view is that it may get rolled in by that time.
Yes, at present single line shall be electrified, as electrification was sanctioned in 2013 and doubling is sanctioned in 2015. Now, doubling may also start by next year. But both works have TDC of March 2018.
