Mangalore should be handed over SWR. This will result in improving connectivity within Karnataka.

KR runs most of its trains to and fro between MAO and mumbai. With merger of MAQ with KR we can expect more trains to mumbai. We kannadigas want connectivity intrastate first and then to other state capitals. I think for a state to develop there should seamless connectivity between major towns/ cities beyond barriers like ghats and landscape related issues. MAQ should have direct trains to DVG, UBL, BAY, BGM, BJP, KLBG, BIDR. Mangaluru being one of the major cities in Karnataka has sidelined by PGT, SR since years. With respect to VSG, I agree VSG has been neglected under SWR. But with doubling between VSG-UBL i believe things will change. Tomorrow a new train is being flagged off between VSG-BGM.

I agree that KR bring there expertise in management of treacherous terrain but they cannot develop stations or improve connectivity like other zones can do. I think KR will be dissolved in future and merged into SWR and CR. Mangalore division can be carved out of this (keeping the 600km rule in mind). If you see the recent past more and more trains have been introduced through the ghat section(both brazghanza and shiradi).
2. I understand that we cannot reduce the trains to TVC or MAS but if MAQ comes under SWR we can ask for trains and then make sure they go to MAQ and not MAJN. SR created lot of issues when gomateshwara exp was introduced but still somehow

we have trains from YPR(true with weird numbers and operating days)
3. SWR provides rakes to to KR I have seen few rakes marked as KR/SWR. Who would provide rakes to KR in future ?
4. What better time to ask for connectivity to MAQ when our own Angadi is at helm. I think this is the golden period of railways atleast in Karnataka. Things are happening at great pace. Even there is a proposal to run a train between MAQ-MRJ.
5. Each zone represent that state( many might not agree with me) look how Kalaburgi, Bidar are suffering even though they are easily connectable regions but they are in CR and SCR respectively. But SWR provides train to them from state capital. Surprisingly there is a train to Kalaburgi from Hubli also (SC exp) with great timings too. If major cities of Karnataka are under single zone it's easier to link them.

SR , PGT division derives most of its revenue from Mangalore port. If the port is taken away its difficult to sustain the division.

Timings seem to be odd till hospete. I hope it should not become a hurdle to regularize this train because of poor patronage.

SWR cannot provide trains to HK because the region is split into multiple zones. When we don't blame SCR or CR for there negligence in providing good connectivity to Bengaluru through there administrative region why single out SWR. SCR and CR run so many holidays specials then why can't they provide connection to SBC.

SWR should listen to needs of people under its jurisdiction and if it extends the train its own train to its own territory I don't think anyone can question it.

I know there is poor intrazone connectivity in SWR. But things are improving in our zone with doubling, extensions and introduction of new trains. I don't know how many of SWR rakes are running to TN or KL so can't comment on that.
